Universidade da Coruna (UDC, Spain)

Universidade da Coruna (UDC, Spain)

Founded in 1989, the University of A Coruña (UDC) has evolved significantly over its 34-year existence, both in size and academic stature. With a diverse range of faculties, UDC has become a reputable generalist university, with particular recognition in fields such as Computer Sciences, Architecture, and Civil Engineering. Its vibrant academic community comprises over 17,000 students, 140 active research groups, and the stewardship of 4 Research Centres and 8 University Institutes for R&D. UDC's international engagement is evident through its participation in more than 160 global projects, predominantly co-funded by the European Union across various programs such as Horizon Europe, Interreg or COST. Presently, UDC is actively involved in approximately 45 EU projects, including 3 ERC Starting Grants, reflecting its commitment to cutting-edge research. UDC's success extends to the European Charter for Researchers and the Code of Conduct for the Recruitment of researchers, with the university successfully passing the Implementation phase of the HRS4R award in 2019 and the Evaluation phase in 2022.

The UDC has become known for the studies on cost assessment and economic feasibility of offshore renewable energies (offshore wind, wave energy and solar offshore energy) in several locations.
