9th Eco-Educational Scientific Conference titled “Climate Change, Sustainable Development and Biodiversity”

The event brought together master’s students in Ecology, school pupils from the Kakheti region, academic staff and researchers, creating a vibrant platform for discussion on renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, and climate-related challenges. Participants presented research-based papers on hydropower, wind and solar energy, eco-energy innovations, and sustainable use of energy resources in Georgia, followed by insightful discussions and debates.

An important element of the conference was the contribution of academic staff involved in the EU cooperation initiative, who supervised the student and pupil presentations and are actively engaged in the development and integration of new sustainability-focused courses into university study programs.

Held annually since 2017 as part of the university’s Strategic Development Plan, the conference reflects a long-standing institutional commitment to environmental education, youth engagement, and sustainable development. It also serves as a valuable outreach activity, strengthening links between higher education, schools, and local communities.

By engaging young people early and linking education with real-world sustainability challenges, this initiative contributes to building the skills, awareness, and responsibility needed for a more energy-efficient and sustainable future.
