3E-Partnership Study Visit at UDC, Spain
UDC, Spain 08 November

Dates: November 6–7, 2024
Participants: 27

The University of A Coruña (UDC) hosted representatives of the 3E-Partnership project for a two-day study visit, which featured a comprehensive review of the Polytechnic School of Engineering of Ferrol and its advanced educational offerings.

Highlights of the Visit

  • Master’s Degree in Energy Efficiency and Sustainability:
Prof. José Luis Calvo Rolle, Director of the Industrial Engineering Department, and Associate Professor José Luis Casteleiro Roca, presented the curriculum of this flagship program. The master's program provides students with expertise in renewable energy systems, energy auditing, building energy ratings, bioclimatic architecture, and smart grid technologies. Students are trained in implementing energy policies, managing energy-efficient projects, and navigating the complexities of the electricity market, preparing them for dynamic careers in energy efficiency and sustainability.

Site Visit: Centre for Research in Naval and Industrial Technologies (CITENI)
Participants toured the CITENI, located on the Industrial Campus of Esteiro in Ferrol. The center, a key research hub under the Vice-Rectorate for Science Policy, Research, and Transfer, plays a pivotal role in advancing naval and industrial technologies.

Consortium Meeting
The visit included a hybrid 3E-Partnership consortium meeting, where participants discussed integrating potential courses into their home institutions. This collaborative effort aimed to expand academic offerings in energy efficiency and sustainability, leveraging insights gained during the visit.

The study visit underscored the University of A Coruña’s commitment to fostering sustainable development through innovative education and cutting-edge research.

European Energy Efficiency towards Mutually Reinforcing Partnership with Georgia, Azerbaijan and Ukraine - The 3E-Partnership Project aims at modernizing and empowering higher education institutions in Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Ukraine, enhancing their capacity for energy resilience and cross-regional cooperation. The project is based on two main pillars: Knowledge Generation and Building Mutually Reinforcing Partnerships. The first, ‘Knowledge Generation’ pillar covers the actions and efforts related to co-designing and piloting curricula in energy efficiency, developing modern competencies, and building necessary skills for participants.

Among several goals, the project identifies Goal 1: Development of Common Curriculum in Energy Efficiently, using innovative learning approaches and strategies, working with non-academic sectors, and fully considering ongoing geopolitical challenges.

To achieve this goal, the 3E-Partnership Project envisages Workshops and Curriculum discussion visits as part of Study visits (Belgium, Italy, Spain, 9 days) to share the best practices, teaching strategies, methods and resources in energy efficiency and green partnerships.

As a result of the study visits and knowledge exchange activities, the project is expected to deliver Jointly Designed Curriculum in Energy Efficiency: 2 BA level courses, 1 MA level course, 1 seasonal school curriculum.
